Serkan Çağrı is an internationally recognized Turkish clarinet virtuoso, composer and academic known for his distinctive performance style and his contributions to the development of the Turkish G-clarinet tradition. His work bridges traditional Turkish music with contemporary world music aesthetics, establishing him as one of the leading representatives of the instrument globally.
EARLY YEARS & EDUCATION
Çağrı began his musical journey at an early age and received the “Best Clarinet Performer” special award at a national competition when he was only 13 years old. He completed his formal education at Ege University and the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory, where he later served as a clarinet instructor. He holds a master’s degree from Haliç University and is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the Baku Music Academy.
INTERNATIONAL STAGE
Throughout his career he has performed extensively across Europe, the Middle East and the United States, collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists including Sting, Ian Anderson, Joan Baez, Giorgos Dalaras, Gipsy Kings Heritage, Buika, Giora Feidman, Roby Lakatos, Natacha Atlas, Gheorghe Zamfir, Trilok Gurtu and Emel Mathlouthi, among many others.
ACADEMIC WORK
He is the author of the first educational method book for Turkish G-clarinet and has published academic articles on performance techniques. His artistic approach has also been the subject of academic research, including a doctoral study titled “Clarinet in Turkish Music and the Performance Techniques of Serkan Çağrı,” which received first prize at an international research competition in Los Angeles.

The world-renowned wind instrument manufacturer AMATI-Kraslice produced a signature clarinet incorporating his original key and mechanism design — one of the rare cases of a performer contributing directly to the development of his instrument.
